Upcoming Events: YWTF DC

February Membership Meeting & Discussion:
“A Reproductive Health Refresher Course”
Thursday, February 17, 6:30pm
Offices of the YWCA of the National Capital Area
624 9th Street, NW

Whether you haven’t had a health class since high school or you’re a reproductive health advocate, we could all use a refresher course on what we as young women can be doing to protect our reproductive health.  And there’s always new information to learn about things like the HPV vaccine and the latest in contraceptive options. Join us for an informal discussion led by Soraya Galeas, Director of Community Education for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington. Bring your questions, share your experiences, and learn from both an expert in the field and from one another.

YWTF: DC Group Outing!
Join us to attend a benefit performance of
“The Vagina Monologues”
Friday, February 25, 8:00pm
Universalist National Memorial Church
16th & S Sts, NW

A group of YWTF: DC members will be going together to see the V-Day DC performance of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play based on interviews with more than 200 women. Proceeds from this performance will benefit the DC Rape Crisis Center. Tickets are $10. If you’ve never seen the “Monologues,” or if you’ve seen it a dozen times, please join us for a fun evening to support a great cause! Email YWTFDC to let us know you’d like to come along and get details on how to meet up with us.  (For those who are able to meet earlier, we’ll be getting together for dinner before the performance as well.)

Save the date for March’s membership meeting & discussion on the topic of
 “Work-Life Balance”
Thursday, March 24, 6:30pm
Offices of the YWCA of the National Capital Area
624 9th Street, NW
At next month’s meeting, career coach Alyssa Best will lead us in a conversation about practical consideratons for achieving the work-life balance you want. Join us to share your thoughts and concerns on this issue as a young woman.

This workshop will also prepare us for YWTF:DC’s upcoming panel discussion on policy issues surrounding work-life balance, planned for April. (Stay tuned for more details on this as they become available!)
