Samantha (Sam) Sewell is the Conference and Events Program Director at the BlueGreen Alliance, a partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations that works to create good, green jobs for a clean energy economy. Prior to her work at BGA, Sam worked as the Executive Coordinator to the President at NARAL Pro-Choice America, as a National Campus Organizer with the Feminist Majority Foundation, and as Youth Program Director at GenderPAC. While with FMF, Sam campaigned in South Dakota for 3 months to help defeat the abortion ban through mass student voter registration drives and student outreach and education.
In addition to her work at BlueGreen Alliance, Sam is a member and the immediate past Chair of the Arlington Commission on the Status of Women.
Sam is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where she enjoyed activism with the school’s Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and playing with the UNT Women’s Ultimate Frisbee club. In 2005, Sam co-founded the Texas Equal Access Fund, an abortion fund that assists low-income women in paying for their abortions. The TEAfund has since grown to be one of the largest funds in the country. In her spare time, Sam enjoys going to the beach, painting, and spending time with her partner Mike and their dog Bailey.
